Feeding Directions
Follow these directions:
1. Offer one tub per 1 to 6 horses.
2. Place tubs within 100 feet of where animals congregate (loafing, grazing, feeding, and watering areas). Feed continuously. Horses will consume approximately 1 pound of this supplement daily. If intake is below (or above) desired levels, increase (or decrease) the number of feeding locations and/or change the location to a more (or less) frequented area.
3. Always feed a minimum of 1.0 to 1.2 pounds per 100/lbs body weight of good quality, clean hay or equivalent in pasture.
IMPORTANT:
1. Reduce and/or delay feeding a horse which is hot, excited or showing pain, has a fever or diarrhea. Consult your veterinarian if any problems arise.
2. Always feed a minimum of 1.0 to 1.2 lbs per 100 lbs of body wieght of good quality, clean hay or the equivalent in pasture.
3. If horses have not been fed a self-fed supplement prior to feeding this product, and over-consumption (2 to 3 times target fed rate) occurs for more than one week despite tub repositioning, remove the tubs and evaluate the overall feeding program.
4. Provide fresh, clean water at all times. Provide your horse with access to salt. Consult with your veterinarian regularly and maintain a routine dental, parasite control and health care program for your horse.
MANAGEMENT TOOL NOTE:
Placement of tubs can influence grazing distribution in large pasture situations. Place tubs in areas of under-utilization in order to entice animals to specific locations within a pasture.
INTRODUCTORY PERIOD:
During the first week of use, place the tubs within 100 feet of the loafing and/or watering areas. As animals become accustomed to the presence of the tubs, some repositioning may be necessary. Move the tubs closer to increase consumption, farther away to decrease consumption. DO NOT PROVIDE STARVED ANIMALS FREE ACCESS TO THIS SUPPLEMENT OR FEED IN DROUGHT CONDITIONS WHEN FORAGE IS NOT AVAILABLE. TUB STORAGE GUIDELINES: Storing tubs at room temperature (70 degrees Fahrenheit) will help maintain consistent hardness. Do not double-stack after receiving. Rows of tubs must be separated by a divider and cannot be directly stacked due to cold flow properties.
CAUTION:
Store in a dry, well-ventilated area protected from rodents and insects. Do not feed moldy or insect-infested feed to animals as it may cause illness, performance loss or death.
